History: The Rattlesnake Mountain Scenic Area was the first major public acquisition for the Mountains to Sound Greenway in 1993. Several years ago the Rattlesnake Ledge Trail was rebuilt and now it extends the entire length of the mountain with a new trailhead at Snoqualmie Point.
The Grand Opening of the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail and Trailhead took place on National Trails day, June 2, 2007. This project is the work of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Washington State Department of Natural Resources, US Forest Service, City of Seattle Public Utilities, City of Snoqualmie and many agencies, funders, recreation groups and hundreds of volunteers. Final funding came from the Washington State Legislature in 2006.
