What We Do
What does the Greenway Trust do?
The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust is a small non-profit 501(c)3 organization with a broad mission
and ambitious set of goals, working to preserve a 100-mile connected green corridor along Interstate 90 in Washington State.
The Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust:
- Supports communities and public agencies in acquiring open space lands for permanent protection
- Plans for and helps communities link a regional Greenway trail system
- Coordinates volunteers to build and repair hiking, biking, equestrian and walking trails and to plant trees and remove invasive weeds from public open spaces
- Supports historic preservation and interpretation projects
- Develops programs for environmental education to teach about the importance of keeping these forests, rivers and mountains just outside the city
- Works with land management agencies and volunteers of all ages for on-the-ground environmental restoration and trail maintenance at public natural and recreation areas
- Promotes tourism along the 100-mile Greenway corridor
- Provides a forum where diverse public and private interests can work toward practical and sustainable solutions to balance conservation with economic prosperity
The Greenway Trust acts as a convener and catalyst of interest groups, landowners and public and private stakeholders along the I-90 corridor between Seattle and Central Washington State. But we need your help to continue to protect the Mountains to Sound Greenway in perpetuity. Donate and Volunteer to join us in caring for the forests and mountains of the Greenway today!
