Mt Si and Gardiner CreekCreating Healthier Waterways in the Upper Snoqualmie Valley

At any given moment, millions of gallons of water are flowing through the Upper Snoqualmie Valley and tumbling over Snoqualmie Falls. These waters and the surrounding natural areas are a valuable resource to people and wildlife who depend them for high water quality-and a high quality of life.

In recent years hundreds of volunteers worked to improve both. In autumn they have planted thousands of trees along Gardiner Creek at Meadowbrook Farm, Kimball Creek, and the Snoqualmie River. Each spring and summer they remove invasive plants that threatened these native plants' survival. The native plants will reduce erosion, improving water quality for local residents and salmon downstream, and add habitat for wildlife.

In 2008, we will revisit the Gardiner Creek site at Meadowbrook Farm.  This project began in 2004, and while volunteers have tremendously helped in the restoration process by planting several thousand trees and removing hundreds of acres of invasive weeds, there is a lot of work that remains.  Join us in the late spring / early summer to help the native plants thrive at this beautiful site right at the base of Mt. Si.  Check out the current events calendar for specific dates.  We look forward to seeing you out there!
