Scouts

Troops
Different projects are better suited for scouts of various ages.
- For Cub scouts, Daisies and Brownies, the Mountains to Sound Nursery
is the best site as the work is not very physically challening and can
be done in a couple hours. Troop leaders should plan to have one
adult for every scout present at the event, especially at a tree planting project. Some sites may not be appropriate for very small kids so troop leaders are encouraged to contact us.
- Scouts age 10 and up often enjoy planting trees in the fall, or caring for a natural area by pulling invasive weeds. One adult for every 3-4 scouts is recommended.
- Groups of older scouts (14 and up) have
the additional option of joining a trail work project. Trail work is
physically demanding and typically requires an all day (6 hour)
commitment. Each group of scouts should bring at least two
leaders.
Leadership Projects
Scouts should know all of the requirements for the service project element of becoming an Eagle Scout or earning the Girl Scout Gold Award before contacting the Greenway Trust. Only self-motivated applicants who demonstrate their commitment will be accepted.
